Anna Koskela, a regional and municipal councilor from Oulu, who was expelled from the Finns Party a year ago due to her racist writings, has joined the Centre Party. After a year of serving as an independent, Koskela will now move to the Centre Party’s council group and is also standing as a candidate in the municipal elections next year.
Koskela cites her inability to influence decision-making in Oulu as an independent as a key reason for her change of affiliation. She expresses that the Centre Party’s operational methods and traditional values, which are close to her heart, resonate with her beliefs. She also appreciates the party’s solution-oriented approach to managing public affairs.
Koskela was expelled from the Finns Party last October, with the party citing inappropriate conduct and reputational damage as reasons for her removal. The controversy began when Koskela made a Facebook post in August of the previous year discussing male citizens from underdeveloped countries. Before her expulsion, she had already announced her intention to resign from the Finns Party’s council group.
