Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson and Benni Hemm Hemm will close Rás 2’s Tónaflóð concert during Menningarnótt at Arnarhóll on Saturday, mbl.is reports. They expect the stage to be crowded, with a 12-member band accompanying them and three backing vocalists standing in for a 40-member women’s choir.

Páll Óskar, commonly known as Palli, said he was ready to perform at Tónaflóð again after 15 years.

“We are incredibly excited because the programme is a mix of the Alveg album, the best songs by Hemmi, no, Benni, and my best songs,” he said on mbl.is’s Dagmál programme.

“It is naturally a mixed bag. It will be fantastic.”

The women’s choir that usually performs with Benni cannot fit on the stage, which Páll Óskar said is much smaller than people might imagine.

“There is not a great deal of space on it,” he said. “So we will just have to make do. Every carcass on the stage gets its own space.”

In his Dagmál interview, Páll Óskar also discussed his relationship with Benni, the concert tour awaiting them over the next two years, the horror film summer coming to an end, his gratitude towards people who stand up for the queer community and the isolation he has experienced over the years as the musician Páll Óskar.
