Three suspects charged with murder after remains of Jimmi Lillelund found in Denmark
Jimmi Lillelund, a 42-year-old man, was last seen alive on April 30, four years ago. He failed to appear for an appointment, prompting his family to report him missing. A significant police investigation was launched amid concerns that he may have been a victim of foul play.
This past summer, authorities arrested and charged three individuals—a woman and two men—in connection with Lillelund’s murder, although they were not initially detained. In July 2024, police excavated a site on the farm where Lillelund resided. Following this, the suspects were brought to court, facing charges of murder and improper handling of a body.
During a recent court hearing in Roskilde, during which the proceedings were opened to the public for the first time, it was revealed that both male suspects, aged 60 and 27, implicated each other in the crime. The prosecutor stated that the older suspect accused the younger one of shooting Lillelund four years ago, leading to the disposal of his body. While the indictment does not specify how Lillelund was killed, both suspects mentioned that he was shot.
The 48-year-old woman involved in the case sought release from custody during the hearing and denied any knowledge of the events, suggesting the issue lies between the two men.
Police have yet to confirm whether they found Lillelund’s remains, but it was disclosed that a bone analysis has taken place. Authorities suspect that the remains might belong to Lillelund and believe they have also recovered evidence relating to the weapon used in the crime. All three suspects are protected by a name ban and deny the charges against them. The prosecution expects to file formal charges within the next month as they approach the final stages of their investigation.
