The Eastern Uusimaa District Court has begun proceedings regarding an alleged crime that took place in Järvenpää in June. The prosecutor is seeking a minimum of ten years of unconditional imprisonment for a 34-year-old woman charged with manslaughter. Alternative charges include aggravated assault and aggravated involuntary manslaughter.

The suspected incident occurred in a private residence on Naavatie in Järvenpää at 7 a.m. on June 15. Police discovered a man, approximately 40 years old, with stab wounds at the scene, who died despite resuscitation efforts. In June, both a man and woman were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter; however, no charges were filed against the 42-year-old man involved.

According to police, the group was spending the evening at the private residence. “They are not relatives; they are acquaintances,” stated lead investigator Sanna Rentola during the preliminary investigation. The suspect has denied all charges.
