The Faroe Islands have reduced their imports, with figures showing a drop of 10.6 billion Danish kroner (approximately $1.5 billion) from September last year to August this year, according to statistics from Hagstovan. This represents a nearly one billion kroner decrease compared to the previous year, specifically a decline of 955.7 million kroner, or around eight percent.

The decrease in imports is primarily attributed to lower fuel prices. Additionally, the number of ships imported in the past year has also decreased.

Imports for final consumption have seen a significant reduction of 541.8 million kroner, translating to over 12 percent. Similarly, imports intended for production purposes have decreased by 235.6 million kroner, or 4.7 percent.

While there has been a notable reduction in construction materials and raw materials for fish processing, imports of pharmaceuticals have increased during this period.
