Man in his 70s remanded on suspicion of murder in Nilsiä, Northern Savonia

A court in Northern Savonia has remanded a man in his 70s on suspicion of murder linked to a tragic incident in Nilsiä, Kuopio, that occurred over the weekend. The man is accused of killing his wife, also in her 70s, in their private residence last Saturday around 8 PM.

According to police reports, the victim and the suspect were a couple. Emergency services received a report about the incident at the residence on Saturday. Upon arrival, police found the woman deceased. The man was apprehended near the scene later that evening around 9 PM.

He is facing charges of manslaughter, serious violation of domestic peace, and preparation of a serious crime against life or health. A deadline for filing formal charges is set for January 24, 2025.
