Police investigate murder of 23-year-old woman in Oulu, Finland
Police in Oulu are investigating the murder of a 23-year-old woman. A 49-year-old man has been apprehended and is suspected of the crime, having confessed to causing the woman’s death, according to police statements.
The woman was reported missing on Tuesday, October 8, after family members lost contact with her for several days. Following the report, police conducted inquiries and soon concentrated their investigation on the woman’s former partner. He was arrested the following day, October 9.
The suspect is believed to have committed the murder between October 5 and 6 in a private residence located in downtown Oulu. He has been remanded in custody on probable cause for the crime, a decision made by the Oulu District Court last Saturday.
According to police, the man admitted to killing the woman and subsequently burying her body in a remote area. The remains were found near Oulu on Saturday.
