Police investigating suspected attempted murder in Kotka, Finland

Police in Kotka, southeastern Finland, are investigating a violent incident that occurred on Saturday in the Karhuvuoressa district, treating it as a suspected attempted murder and aggravated breach of domestic peace. One individual was shot in a private residence, prompting police to apprehend suspects at the scene. The injured party was taken to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment; fortunately, their condition is not life-threatening.

Crime Commissioner Iida Rokka of the Southeastern Finland Police stated that authorities have a relatively clear understanding of the series of events. Both the suspect and the victim, who are approximately the same age—over 30—have been questioned by police. Currently, there is only one suspect in relation to the attempted murder.

According to Rokka, the arrest situation was calm and posed no danger to bystanders. She confirmed that a shooting had indeed occurred but did not disclose any details regarding the type of weapon used or the number of shots fired during the incident. Investigations are ongoing, with police continuing to hear from those involved, as well as conducting a technical examination of the crime scene.
