Shooting incident at Grønlands Torv prompts family to relocate from Aalborg
Two individuals were shot late last night at Grønlands Torv in Aalborg, where resident Nuka Egede Madsen lives. The incident has prompted her to make a decisive choice for her family’s safety. “I will move away from here as quickly as I can. I cannot live in a place where people shoot at each other,” she remarked, expressing that the episode is a manifestation of an ongoing gang conflict in Aalborg. This is not the first time such violence has erupted in the vicinity.
Nuka emphasized the importance of protecting her children: “We only live once, and it shouldn’t be in a place like this. I want to protect my kids as best as I can, and I don’t feel I can do that here.”
The shooting occurred in a residential area, creating increased fear among residents. Another local, Christina Findinge Madsen, noted, “I am afraid to go shopping or take my laundry out when it’s dark.” She has previously encountered stabbings and other disturbances in the area, but this is her first experience with gunfire. “If someone has a knife, it’s usually targeted, but gunshots can hit many others,” she said, adding that her sense of security has diminished.
Following the gunfire, Nuka’s son heard the shots and saw individuals fleeing, which led to the children staying home from school the next day. “My kids are frightened and overwhelmed. My son heard three shots and ran to the window. Afterward, the police came and questioned us. This is not something we are accustomed to.”
Nuka has decided her children will not go outside alone after dark until the family relocates. During the night, police arrested six individuals connected to the shooting.
