The Nature Conservation Committee of the Suðuroy district is revisiting the building project of Varðin Pelagic in Tvøroyri.

Varðin Pelagic and the Municipality of Tvøroyri have requested that the matter be reconsidered by the Nature Conservation Committee after it was previously addressed by the Oversight Committee.

The Oversight Committee had raised concerns regarding Varðin Pelagic’s planned expansion in Tvøroyri. However, the Nature Conservation Committee is also reviewing the original building permit granted to Varðin Pelagic ten years ago.

The main question appears to be whether the regulation permitting exceptions to construction rules related to sea levels was correctly applied in 2013.

Once the Nature Conservation Committee concludes its review, the matter will be sent back to the Oversight Committee for further consideration.
