Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy, commonly known as Heka, has announced plans to increase rents next year. Heka’s average rent will rise by 5.2% compared to this year. As Finland’s largest landlord, Heka states that the lowest rent increase will be 0.5%, while the highest could reach 9.5%. The majority of adjustments will fall between 2% and 6%. Residents will receive notice of their rent increases via mail by the end of October.
According to Heka, the highest rents are found in its newest properties, particularly in areas such as Kalasatama and Jätkäsaari. The company’s press release highlights that rent adjustments are influenced by the current interest rates and rising costs. Additionally, an increase in vacant properties has also contributed to the upward pressure on rents.
