The coalition’s plan to strengthen drug controls at the borders will require more customs officers at TAKS, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
Birta Biskopstø, a department manager at the customs authority, said the additional staffing was necessary if the measures were to have a real effect.
TAKS has purchased more inspection equipment in recent years. However, Biskopstø said effective controls still require substantial resources and personnel because the border covers air travel, maritime traffic and all imports.
