17-year-old pleads not guilty to attempted arson in Hellerup, Denmark

A 17-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty to attempting to set fire to a residential building on Rymarken in Hellerup early Monday morning. This information emerged during a preliminary hearing on Tuesday as the young suspect appeared in court wearing a blue DNA suit and displaying brown curls.

Alongside a 12-year-old boy, the 17-year-old is charged with attempted arson after allegedly placing an object containing unknown explosive materials outside the building around 3:00 AM. The charge indicates that this act put the lives of the residents at significant risk. Fortunately, no one was harmed in the incident.

Following the reading of the charges, the court session was closed as the suspect maintained his innocence. The prosecution pointed out that police believe there may be unidentified accomplices still at large, a detail highlighted in the charges.

The younger suspect, being below the criminal age, is not subject to a preliminary hearing and cannot face punishment. Although he is currently detained by the police, his case has been transferred to social services.
