An Icelander in Lebanon has sought assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as tensions escalate in the region. The Ministry’s Citizen Service is aware of two Icelanders currently in Lebanon and is in contact with both. One of them has requested help, although specific details regarding the type of assistance have not been disclosed.
The Ministry urges all Icelanders in Lebanon to reach out, even if they do not require immediate assistance. They can do so by calling +354 545 0112, available around the clock, or by emailing [email protected].
Recent reports indicate that Israel has conducted airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon, with actions intensifying. This morning, Israeli forces targeted a busy road used by Lebanese refugees fleeing to Syria. Airstrikes have also continued in southern Lebanon and the capital, Beirut.
The increasing violence and instability in the region have created a pressing context for foreign nationals, with the Icelandic authorities emphasizing the importance of communication for those affected.
