The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, and Sophie began a visit to Finland on Monday, with stops planned in the Helsinki metropolitan area and Oulu, Yle reported. The British Embassy said the programme would focus on Finnish-British cooperation in innovation, culture, education, resilience and defence.

On Monday, the couple are due to meet President Alexander Stubb and his spouse, and visit Helsinki City Hall. Members of the public can greet them outside the city hall at about 5pm.

In Oulu on Tuesday, Edward will visit Tiima, a newly opened museum and science centre, design centre Proto and the media art exhibition Kuutar’s Garden.

On Wednesday, the couple are scheduled to visit Havukoski School in Vantaa and Santahamina garrison, where they will observe conscript training.

Edward and Sophie last visited Finland in 2015. Prince William was the most recent member of the British royal family to visit Finland, in 2017.
