Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir’s friends are calling for societal change following her tragic death due to a knife attack during Reykjavík’s Culture Night. They emphasize the need to raise awareness and prevent such acts of violence, particularly among youth.

Kristín Salka Auðunsdóttir, a close friend of Bryndís, shared that her friend was known for her kindness and support, describing her as someone who always saw the good in others and aimed to make people smile. The friends have organized a concert to benefit Bryndís Klara’s memorial fund, which focuses on helping projects that protect children from violence.

Kristín Salka stated that Bryndís’s death should not be in vain and that the community must recognize the urgency for change. She believes that Bryndís was a hero whose impact could save lives in the future, should society choose to address these issues effectively. The incident involved a 15-year-old boy who stabbed Bryndís and two other young individuals at the event in late August. Bryndís succumbed to her injuries a week later.

As the new school year begins, Kristín Salka noted the difficulty of returning to normalcy after such a traumatic event but emphasized the support from the community. Kristjana Mist Logadóttir, a classmate, observed an outpouring of love and solidarity, with many students wearing pink in Bryndís’s memory.

Initially, the friends intended to host a small concert for their school, but it expanded significantly, featuring prominent artists like Frikki Dór and GDRN. The proceeds will go towards the memorial fund. Kristjana Mist expressed a desire to celebrate Bryndís’s life through music and to spread love in the wake of tragedy, stating that “two wrongs cannot make a right” and urging the community to promote kindness.
