The iconic concert and event venue Tullikamari in Tampere will temporarily close its doors for renovations. The Tampere Cultural Chamber company, which manages the venue, will vacate the property as plans for a major refurbishment are set for the near future. The city of Tampere has estimated that the renovations will take approximately two years. The final events at Tullikamari will be held in December, and nightclub operations will also cease during that month. Afterward, the venue will be emptied.

“The refurbishment is essential for this culturally and historically significant building to continue serving the residents of Tampere in the future,” stated Tero Viikari, chair of the Tampere Cultural Chamber, in a press release. Activities will continue at the nearby Tavara station, which is expected to host more cultural and corporate events in the future.

“The number of events will increase by at least 50%,” remarked Janne Laurila, the program manager of the Cultural Chamber. Tullikamari, which was completed in 1901, is owned by the city of Tampere, which will also decide on the schedule for the upcoming renovations. The city council will discuss the matter again in their meeting in November.
