Woman dies in traffic accident on Sæbraut in Reykjavík
A woman in her forties tragically lost her life in a traffic accident on Sæbraut in Reykjavík early Sunday morning. According to police in the capital area, her name cannot be disclosed at this time. The incident occurred when a passenger car traveling north on Sæbraut struck the woman as she was crossing the street heading east. Police received reports of the collision ten minutes past midnight, but unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sæbraut was closed off in both directions from Vesturlandsvegur to Holtavegur for approximately two hours as emergency responders worked at the site of the accident. With the year still in its early stages, the road fatalities have already reached thirteen, marking the highest number for this period in seven years.
