A recent study by Statistics Iceland reveals that individuals over the age of 18 in the country sleep an average of nearly nine hours per night. The research examines how Icelanders allocate their time, highlighting that the majority of it is dedicated to sleep, followed by education, work, and travel. Entertainment occupies the third position in time expenditure.

According to the data, young people aged 18 and older spend almost five hours a day on education, work, or travel, while they devote nearly three and a half hours daily to various forms of entertainment. Additionally, Icelanders spend just under three hours a day attending to personal needs, with about one hour dedicated to helping others.

The survey also indicates that people aged 70 and older prioritize leisure activities above all else, also dedicating the most time to household management. However, their participation in social activities is notably limited.

There are variations in time usage across different age groups. For instance, older adults primarily engage in entertainment and home management, setting them apart in their daily routines. The study aims to provide insights into how residents of Iceland utilize their time in various activities.
