Finnish government allocates half a million euros to support minority language media
The Finnish government has allocated half a million euros in support of newspapers and electronic media published in minority languages. This decision was made by the Cabinet on Thursday, maintaining the funding level from previous years.
Support is available for national publications in minority languages, with the largest individual grants amounting to 85,000 euros, specifically awarded to Swedish-language newspapers. According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, the main purpose of this funding is to bolster publications in Swedish, Sámi, Karelian, Romani languages, and sign language.
