Viggo Venn hosts preview for new series in Oslo
In a uniquely comedic twist, Norwegian clown Viggo Venn describes his upcoming television series as “a kind of idiotic travel documentary.” The much-anticipated show, titled “Viggo Venn Follows the Clown Dream,” premieres tomorrow on NRK. However, tonight he is hosting a preview gathering for friends in Oslo.
Viggo enters the pre-premiere with a vibrant yellow vest—claimed to be the world’s largest—that he dramatically unfurls at the venue. He humorously comments, “Who knows what it’s good for? Never mind!”
The 2022 winner of “Britain’s Got Talent,” Viggo charmed audiences with his quirky dance routines, endearing puppy eyes, and an array of colorful vests, ultimately earning a prize worth 3.4 million Norwegian kroner and winning over notoriously tough judge Simon Cowell. Cowell recognized Viggo as “the most annoying of the night” before admitting he was his favorite.
Reflecting upon his journey, Viggo reveals that the series chronicles his reunion with his former clown mentor in France, who is 83 and battling illness. The mentor’s advice was clear: “The clown’s dream is Sydney’s Opera House.” This mantra drives Viggo’s quest to transition from a small-town performer to potentially performing at a prestigious venue.
“I’ve spent five years on tour, living hand-to-mouth, and now suddenly I have a big audience in the UK and Norway,” he shares with palpable excitement. The show showcases his journey from clown school to various locations worldwide, with the goal of reaching the iconic Opera House—making for a whimsical narrative colored by his impressive comedic talents.
As he fondly recalls past performances, he humorously recalls a school graduation moment where he hilariously disrobed for laughs. “I even got a six for it,” he admits, realizing that this playful act could have indicated his future in comedy.
