Authorities investigate teenage boy’s death linked to inhalant abuse in Kuopio, Finland

Authorities in Kuopio, Finland, are investigating the death of a teenage boy, believed to be linked to a potentially life-threatening substance abuse method. The seventh-grade boy was found unconscious in a wooded area of Lehtoniemi on August 20. Emergency responders transported him to the hospital, where he later died.

The case is currently under investigation as a death inquiry, with police looking into whether inhalant abuse might be involved. Inhalant abuse refers to the intentional inhalation or sniffing of various substances to achieve a state of intoxication. Police have confirmed that chemicals were found at the location where the boy was discovered.

According to police, various aerosol chemicals such as deodorants, hairsprays, and dry shampoos are being misused among children and teenagers. In severe cases, this behavior could lead to fatal consequences for users.
