Since Friday, cabin crew members have been on strike, with an escalation scheduled for Wednesday. The National Mediator’s office confirmed that a meeting between the parties involved is set to take place today.
On Monday, Martinus Røkkum from the SAS Norway cabin crew union expressed to NRK that they are ready to negotiate if SAS presents a better offer. Press Officer Øystein Schmidt from SAS Norway acknowledged the statements from the union, indicating a general openness to further discussions. However, he noted that the timing for any new talks will be managed by the National Mediator.
Currently, the exact meeting time has not been disclosed. A total of 155 cabin crew members, including 115 from the United Federation and 40 from Parat, have gone on strike due to failed negotiations over pay. As a result, SAS has canceled over 43 departures from Norwegian airports.
Flight cancellations include services from major cities such as Stavanger, Kristiansand, and Oslo, with a total of around 40 flights affected on Sunday alone. Cabin crew members are demanding higher wages and improved working conditions, including more than one holiday weekend per month.
On the picket lines, LO leader Peggy Hessen Følsvik visited striking workers at Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport, supporting their cause.
SAS has assured affected passengers that notifications will be sent out via SMS, email, or through the SAS app regarding any changes to their flights. Passengers who receive no communication can expect their flights to proceed as scheduled.
