Tremors recorded near Sundhnúks volcanic system on Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland

In the past 24 hours, nearly 60 earthquakes have been recorded near the magma intrusion at the Sundhnúks volcanic system on the Reykjanes Peninsula. The most significant tremor measured 1.7 in magnitude.

Since midnight, 10 tremors have been detected, which is comparable to the previous night, according to an Icelandic meteorological expert. Currently, there are no signs of volcanic activity. The accumulation of magma has surpassed levels observed before the last eruption.

The expert noted that predicting when an eruption will occur at the Sundhnúks system is not possible at this time.
