Traffic congestion in the capital is expected to increase as autumn approaches. Many residents of Reykjavík are likely experiencing delays on the roads at this time. According to Árni Friðleifsson, chief of the traffic department of the local police, the traffic jams are a common occurrence as schools have reopened and various construction projects are ongoing in the area. This results in congestion both in the mornings and late afternoons.

Árni emphasizes that the police are keeping a close eye on the situation and will intervene as necessary. However, he notes that there are limits to what the police can do to ease the flow of traffic, as the road infrastructure simply cannot accommodate the current volume of vehicles. Drivers are being urged to exercise patience and tolerance to ensure that everyone can make it home safely.
