Eight vehicles were involved in a crash that closed traffic towards Vaasa for about two hours on Friday morning, Yle reported. The collision happened shortly before 8am on the motorway between the Fladan and Vikby junctions.

No serious injuries were reported, but two people were taken to hospital for further examination.

Rescue services and police warned that road conditions were extremely slippery, particularly at junctions and intersections. Police urged drivers to take extra care, adjust their speed to conditions and leave enough distance between vehicles. Roads can be very slippery even when the surface appears bare.

Police had warned on Thursday of slippery roads and several traffic accidents.
