A worsening conflict between the Centre Party and the Left Party could make it harder for Sweden’s red-green parties to form a government, SVT political commentator Mats Knutson writes in an analysis. Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson is concerned that the dispute will damage cooperation.

Left Party deputy leader Ida Gabrielsson angered Centre Party members in an interview with Dagens Nyheter. Andersson has also criticised Gabrielsson’s remarks, fearing they could undermine efforts to form a government on the red-green side.

Meanwhile, Moderate Party leader Ulf Kristersson has a formal mandate to explore the formation of a government and is likely to be ready to improve his offer to the Centre Party, Knutson writes. The analysis presents the commentator’s own conclusions.
