Helsinki police found the person they were looking for after a large search operation in Kulosaari on Thursday evening, Yle reported. The operation concerned a matter involving life and health, but posed no danger to bystanders.
About 10 police patrols and a Border Guard maritime rescue helicopter took part in the operation, according to the Helsinki Police Command Centre. The search covered Kulosaari and may also have extended to nearby coastal waters.
Police said there was no suspicion of violence and no indication that a weapon was involved. The operation was not directed at local residents or other members of the public.
The person was found at about 9pm, and police said the situation had ended without posing a danger. Police did not describe the search as a missing-person case and said there was no information that anyone had fallen into the water or elsewhere. They did not disclose what prompted the search.
