Yle meteorologist Matti Huutonen warned that frost could make roads slippery on Thursday morning across an area stretching from eastern Finland to southern Lapland. Drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.

Dryer, colder air will move into Finland from the northwest, bringing largely dry and sunny weather. A few light showers are expected along a strip from the southeast through Central Finland to the Bothnian Bay, and may reach farther south in the evening.

Temperatures will vary across the country. Daytime readings in the north will stay around zero, while the south could reach about 8 degrees. Temperatures will fall below freezing in the north during the evening and drop below 5 degrees in the south.

Friday is expected to be mostly dry and sunny, though northern Lapland will be cloudier, with a chance of light sleet or snow. Overnight frost could affect nearly all of Finland, and daytime temperatures are forecast to range from zero to 5 degrees.
