Technology industry employment grows fastest in three years

Employment in Finland’s technology industry grew at its fastest pace since early 2023, Yle reported, citing the Technology Industries of Finland association. The sector’s workforce increased by about 900 people in the third quarter of 2026, reaching 331,100 at the end of September.

Companies’ order books were a third larger than a year earlier. They have strengthened for nearly two years, and the improving demand is now beginning to show in employment, the association’s chief economist, Hanne Mikkonen, said.

The stronger order books are largely due to large orders in the marine industry and strong growth in the defence industry. Technology is Finland’s largest industrial and export sector.
