Iceland’s special unit under the National Police Commissioner has used officers’ private cars for callouts and training, mbl.is reported. The unit went to two callouts in private cars over the past 12 months, one of them connected to an operation against organised crime, and used private cars for training twice.
The unit has also put into service a vehicle built in the last century that had been stored at a police museum.
The National Police Commissioner’s communications manager said the unit urgently needed a stronger vehicle fleet, as its cars were old.
