More than one party was interested in buying Fjarðarkaup, a store in Hafnarfjörður, managing director Gísli Sigurbergsson told mbl.is.
Samkaup announced on Monday that it had bought the store’s retail business. Real estate company Kaldalón also announced it had bought the property where the store operates.
Sigurbergsson said the sale process began about six months ago, when his family sought partners to oversee the transaction. “We chose Arion Bank to work with, and then began looking at potential buyers,” he said.
Sigurbergsson and his three siblings began considering Fjarðarkaup’s future three years ago, after their father died.
