Valmet and Metsä Fibre have settled an arbitration over the Kemi bioproduct plant, Yle reports. The confidential settlement also covers certain other claims and reservations between the companies.
Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, initiated the case two years ago and sought 47 million euros. In October 2024, it also said it wanted Valmet to be held liable for possible future claims, then estimated at about 65 million euros.
Valmet, a machinery company, denied Metsä Fibre’s claims and made its own claims against the company. At the end of the third quarter of 2026, the monetary claims against Valmet stood at about 33.5 million euros, the company said.
