Several websites run by Iceland’s Marine and Freshwater Research Institute have been temporarily closed because of security vulnerabilities in PHP, mbl.is reports. Some of the affected sites hold sensitive data.
The institute said serious vulnerabilities had recently been identified in PHP, a programming language used by many websites worldwide.
CERT-IS, the Icelandic government’s cyber security team, has urged institutions to restrict access to sensitive systems or take them offline. The institute said work was under way to resolve the issue.
