DR reports that Mads Strandby signed up as a volunteer with less than an hour’s notice to help HB Køge ahead of its women’s Champions League match against Barcelona. The game will be played in front of 6,000 fans at a sold-out stadium in Køge Idrætspark for the first time.
The large crowd has increased demands on the club’s volunteers, who will handle tasks including serving sausages, pouring draft beer and making popcorn, said Mikkel Henderson, HB Køge’s fan coordinator, who oversees the volunteer effort.
Henderson mentioned on P4 that he could use more volunteers. Strandby heard the appeal and offered to help. He said he was looking forward to being part of the occasion and was happy to serve food and coffee, adding that volunteering could be more enjoyable than watching the match from the stands.
