A trial bus service to the airport is planned to return over Christmas and New Year, KVF reports.

Member of Parliament Súsanna Bertholdsen asked Transport Minister Jacob Vestergaard about the links between buses, ferries and Atlantic Airways.

Vestergaard said Strandferðslan has increased the number of bus trips between Tórshavn and the airport during the summer in recent years. But the public transport service cannot run unlimited buses on the route, he said, because it must work within its financial limits. Either its funding must increase or services on other routes must be cut.

Another option would be to remove tunnel tolls for public buses. Figures from last year show that 15.5 per cent of passengers on routes 300 and 350 boarded the buses at the airport.
