Central Finland’s wellbeing services county is seeking a new chief executive, with applications open until 26 November, Yle reports. The authority says it wants a leader with financial and change-management expertise, as well as an ability to lead in a humane, attentive and determined way.
The county’s previous chief executive, Piia Vuorela, left the post in September after 150 working days. She later said she wanted to withdraw her resignation, but has told Yle she will not apply for the job again. Vuorela was criticised for leading through fear, an allegation she denied.
The new chief executive is expected to have a suitable master’s degree, leadership experience, the ability to manage complex issues and an understanding of political oversight and the role of networks. The authority also lists strong communication and co-operation skills among its requirements.
Mercuri Urval, the executive search and consulting firm used in the previous recruitment, will conduct the search under a guarantee arrangement, meaning it will bring no additional cost to the county. A preparatory group appointed by the regional board has set the terms of the search and will decide which candidates are invited to interview.
The position is for a fixed term of six years, with a six-month probationary period. The regional council is expected to choose the new chief executive in February 2027.
