Katrín Pétursdóttir of Lýsi is the anchor investor in Litli spítalinn, a healthcare company, whose healthcare workers will hold a majority stake, its CEO Guðrún Ása Björnsdóttir told mbl.is.
Other investors are people who want to contribute to society, Björnsdóttir said in an interview with Morgunblaðið’s Sunday supplement. She said the company’s operations would be transparent and its rules clear.
The investors are willing to put money into healthcare and the future, and are ambitious for the healthcare system, she said. “If people want to make money quickly from investments, they invest in something else. That is obvious.”
Björnsdóttir said she saw little risk of Litli spítalinn being run like any other commercial company, adding that healthcare would always come first. The company must be able to operate, she said, and if it succeeds, she hopes that will benefit its work.
