DR reports that a conservative majority in Region Syddanmark has voted against the first draft of a handbook designed to help healthcare staff communicate with LGBTQ+ patients on equal terms.

The majority said the handbook’s language was “woke-ideological” and argued that there are only two genders. The guide is due to be discussed again on Monday.

The handbook explains LGBTQ+ terms to help staff understand the words patients use to describe themselves. DR invites readers to test their knowledge of the terms covered in the guide.
