Eiríkur Björn replaces Jón Gnarr as committee deputy chair

Eiríkur Björn Björgvinsson has replaced Jón Gnarr as first deputy chair of Alþingi’s Constitutional and Supervisory Committee, mbl.is reported.

Alþingi Speaker Þórunn Sveinbjarnardóttir announced the election at the start of a parliamentary sitting on Wednesday. Eiríkur Björn was elected at a committee meeting that morning.

Gnarr left Viðreisn’s parliamentary group but had an agreement with the group to continue serving on the committees he had represented on its behalf. The agreement also provides for his support on government matters and assistance from the group’s staff in parliament.
