Rafnar Lárusson, Landsvirkjun’s managing director of finance and information technology, has resigned, mbl.is reports. He said he had planned to leave at the same time as chief executive Hörður Arnarson, who recently resigned.

Lárusson said it was appropriate to give the incoming chief executive the opportunity to choose a finance director. He shared his decision in a message to colleagues on the company’s internal website and in a LinkedIn post.

He will remain in the role for now to complete outstanding work, including the budget and annual accounts. Lárusson said he has not taken another job and will begin looking for one while wrapping up his current duties.

In his message to colleagues, Lárusson described Landsvirkjun as a company with wide-ranging effects on Iceland’s economy and society. He said he would follow the company’s next chapter with pride.
