Eight police officers were sent to a football match between two secondary schools in Seltjarnarnes on Wednesday night after heavy drinking and disorder broke out among supporters, mbl.is reported. One person was hit on the head with a bottle and suffered minor injuries.

Police said flares were thrown towards people nearby, while some people were punched and others spat on. No one was detained in connection with the match, and no formal complaints had been filed.

Seven people were held in police cells overnight in connection with separate incidents. One man was arrested and held while police investigate suspected property damage, drug sales, a weapons-law offence and money laundering. Another person was held as police investigated a traffic accident, suspected drug-impaired driving and drug possession. A driver was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs; the car had too many passengers.

Police and firefighters were dispatched after a scooter caught fire in a shared area of an apartment building.
