Floodwaters carve into road to Þórsmörk
High water in the Krossá and Markarfljót rivers has cut into the road leading to Þórsmörk, mbl.is reports.
Hreinn Óskarsson, a division head at Land and Forests, said Markarfljót had damaged the road in a similar place several years ago. The road was then moved farther from the river.
Óskarsson expects crews to wait for the river to subside before moving the road farther away again.
