Nationwide Daisy outage disrupts childcare check-ins

A nationwide disruption in the Daisy early childhood education system has prevented children from being checked into daycare using the mobile application, Yle reports. The outage does not affect parents.

The system is used in many cities across Finland. Antti Kaisto, sales director at Alfa eCare, which maintains the system, said the fault affects the eDaisy mobile system.

The cause is being investigated, but the company believes the system could be repaired during the morning. Check-ins that were missed can be entered afterwards once the fault has been fixed.

The problem was also reported in Mikkeli’s early childhood education services. Office secretary Paula Liimatainen said the application had worked in some situations during the morning.

People who already had the application open were able to use it normally. Those who opened it during the morning could not use it.

Daisy Family’s communications service, which is also used to report children’s care days, is working normally.

Kaisto said the system had not previously experienced an outage on this scale.
