Prosecutors say father tried to kill son with gas in Pyhtää

A man born in 1973 is accused of attempting to murder his son, who is under 10 years old, Yle reported. The case began in Helsinki District Court on Monday.

The alleged attempt took place in Pyhtää during Midsummer last year. Prosecutors say the man went to sleep with his son in the back of a car before opening gas cylinders containing carbon dioxide and argon.

The charges also allege that the man repeatedly threatened to kill the child’s mother.
