ATV rider taken to hospital after crashing into tree

an ATV rider was taken to hospital after losing control and crashing into a tree near Hafravatn lake, mbl.is reports. The crash happened at around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Hjördís Sigurbjartsdóttir, deputy chief superintendent with the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police, said police received a report during the following hour. Two ambulances and a police vehicle were sent to the scene, and the rider was taken to hospital.

The extent of the rider’s injuries was not immediately known.

According to police, a considerable number of ATV riders were near Hafravatn as part of an organised ATV trip when the crash occurred.
