Police cite dozens of drivers for illegal parking

Police cited nine drivers in central Reykjavík for illegal parking on Saturday night and early Sunday, while another driver was cited for driving along a pedestrian street in the same area, mbl.is reported.
Eleven more drivers were cited for illegal parking in postal district 104.
Police in the capital region also cited several drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and for speeding. The fastest driver was recorded at 141 kilometres per hour in an 80-kilometre-per-hour zone.
Police received a report of a burglary at a business in the city centre during the night. The suspects were later found and taken to a police station.
Eight people spent the night in police detention. A total of 175 cases were recorded in the capital region police system between 5pm on Saturday and 5am on Sunday.
