Fire breaks out in car near Reykjavík water source

A car caught fire on Suðurlandsvegur road near Heiðmörk shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, mbl.is reports.

The vehicle was parked relatively close to Gvendarbrunnar, a water source for the capital region, so firefighters had to proceed with extreme caution, according to Stefán Kristinsson, a supervisor with the capital region fire service.

The car was towed away after firefighters brought the blaze under control.
