An outsider entered the Brava learning centre in Parainen and assaulted a middle school student on Wednesday, Yle Åboland reported.

According to Anders Vikström, Parainen’s director of education, a young person from outside the school used violence against a student at Sarlinska skolan, the middle school operating at the learning centre. The person quickly left the centre, Vikström said.

Several Brava students witnessed the incident. The school has filed a police report and informed families through the Wilma service.

Maria Sainio, a senior police officer, confirmed to Yle Åboland that the Southwest Finland Police Department had received a report. The incident has been recorded as suspected assault, although the criminal classification may change as the investigation proceeds.

Vikström said that more staff than usual would be present in the learning centre’s corridors on Thursday and that students would be offered support. The doors of Sarlinska skolan are locked during the school day, he said.

Five schools operate at the Brava learning centre: Sarlinska skolan, Pargas svenska gymnasium, Paraisten lukio, Paraistenseudun koulu and the vocational school Axell.
