Wage payments rise by 840 million kroner in one year

Wage payments in the Faroe Islands increased by 840 million kroner, or 6.3 per cent, from September 2025 to August 2026, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports.
A total of 14.2 billion kroner was paid in wages during the period.
Fisheries and aquaculture accounted for a quarter of the increase, driven particularly by wage growth in demersal fishing, according to Statistics Faroe Islands.
The transport and storage industry accounted for 13 per cent of the increase, while manufacturing accounted for 12 per cent.
Growth in wage payments has remained steady in recent years. The figures cover wages subject to A-tax.
